The Orlinda Cannon

Here’s another picture of the cannon on display in Orlinda, TN. It’s funny how I have been frequently driving and riding by this display and only noticed it yesterday while riding. To be fair, it is tucked behind the building to the right.

RR Tracks

Just couldn’t get to the tunnel that runs under the town of Ridgetop, Tennessee with the bike. This is south of the tunnel, and it is about a mile up the track.

Old Springfield Road

While looking for a railroad tunnel, I spotted this cool vintage-looking store with a gas pump. It is located about two miles south of Ridgetop, TN.

Ridgetop, Tennessee

This caboose is on display in the Ridgetop city park. Its been a long time since I’ve seen a caboose at the end of a train. You? 

US Army Cannon

This M2 cannon is across the street from the library in Orlinda, TN. Its about 10 miles west of the house. The data plate indicates this cannon was manufactured in 1943. Makes me wonder if it was fired during the war.

Rock

The face of this rock revealed itself from the road that is to the left and just out of view. The view reminded me of being out west, so I turned in for some pictures.

There are heliport markings in the parking lot to the right.

Looking back at this location, it is the turn off/gate for the Fontana Dam owned by the TVA.

Break Time!

First break this morning is at this rest area near Waynesville. The warm sun felt good on the cool, stiff neck and shoulder muscles.

Eastern Continental Divide

Chasing the first Honda Pass/Gap Challenge for the day. This would take us just over the state line into South Carolina.

The Eastern Continental Divide is located here at 2,910 feet. 😶

Rose Garden

Specially reserved parking for the AT by a rose 🌹 garden at the hotel? Not really, but we helped ourselves to the spot. 😁

Twin Tunnels in North Carolina

Booyah! Two tunnels here. This is the first of the two since getting on the Blue Ridege Parkway.
